Weekend Roundup

Overall a good weekend. But Friday I had more nose bleeding and did the math — Friday was the 6th day so maybe I should see a medical type? I tried super hard to ignore that thought I had a ton to do since we were having the kids for dinner the next night. But I finally gave into common sense and went to Urgent Care, which isn’t ideal but my only choice since my doctor was out until the next week and I couldn’t get an appointment to see him until the following week (I made the appointment, just in case). I saw an over-worked P.A. (Physicians Assistant) probably got the diagnosis right in the 43 second visit. And what was the diagnosis? The left side of my nose is a mess and I’m definitely going on antibiotics. He never looked in the right side of my nose or anywhere else because the medical care system does not have time for that kind of nonsense. Um, did that sound sarcastic? Anyhow, he said more than that, but that was the gist of it. The thing that really surprised me is he wanted me to use Afrin for three days to stop the bleeding. That actually helped, although I’m cutting the time shorter than three days. The good news is that I don’t appear sick with a virus. One of the reasons I made myself go is that I don’t want to get anyone sick if I have a virus.

The rest of Friday was a blur of errands and prep. Saturday with the kids was really nice. The six of us had a good time and Maggie soaked up all the attention. One thing we’ve been trying to do is agree on a family vacation — it’s worse than wrangling feral cats. It turns out that we raised boys with opinions, who married girls with opinions and Wizard and I have opinions. All we need to do is get everyone to have the same opinion at the same time. So…that’s up in the air :-) At one point my daughter-in-law asked me if I’d go parasailing despite having some fear of heights. Would I? It’s a good question. I have never thought of trying it so that question caught me by surprise.

Sunday Wizard went racing, and Maggie and I did normal stuff, nothing really exciting.

That was my weekend, how was yours?

Saturday’s soccer match got cancelled due to wet field conditions due to the massive overnight/early morning rains. Saturday afternoon I gave blood. Good news is my blood pressure is back down to normal range! (It had been on the high side for some time now.) Also, my weight is down and staying, though I still have about 20 lbs. to go. Anyway, Jake went with me and he was loved on by all at the donation center. Then it was nap time.

Overnight Sunday, we got a hurricane. Seriously! 60 mph winds, hail, and torrential rain. We got 3.6″ in an hour. Good news is, we weathered the storm in good shape. LG was up and scurried to get the truck undercover before the hail it. We lost lots of leaves and a few dead branches but it’s all good. And we both napped Sunday afternoon. LOL

Needless to day, it was mostly a lazy Sunday to go with the lazy Saturday. Since today is Monday, maybe I’ll get productive. Or not… 🤣🤣🤣

It’s good that you went to Urgent Care. Sounds like they’re treating an infection. I hope it is responding and clearing up. That’s insane that the healthcare people can’t really spend time with the patient. A full check is their JOB.

Wrangling feral cats is quite a job 😅. Opinions can be annoying. Parasailing – NOPE!

I’m happy that Maggie had a good time too.

WOW – Silver had some nasty weather. We had very little weather over the weekend.

Had dinner last night for DIL’s birthday. It was very nice. The downer came at the end when we all said bye and gave super hugs to A & A because Muffin was crossing the bridge today. Heartbreaking but she is suffering and that is the kindest thing to do.

I had a text from my cousin today. My mother’s credit union says there is an account I have to handle and they are insisting that I go to NY and do it in person. I will be calling them in the morning and seeing if they will change their tune. It seems so backward and stupid that in2023 they would make people come in person to close accounts. Crossing fingers.

I hope you have a wonderful afternoon!

Silver, sorry about Stormy’s soccer match, and it’s awesome that you gave blood. Very good news on your blood pressure! You’re doing great on your weight too. Congrats on the weight loss too. Anything that makes us feel healthier, better and helps us keep doing the things we enjoy as long as we can.

Wow you had some wicked weather! I’m relieve all was well at your house after the storm passed.

You’ve been having some eventful weekends lately! I’m thinking of Only’s flood and the weekend you spent help her, and now this.

Hope you got some rest and maybe a few words in since you’re almost to the end!

Viki, yeah, something’s likely infected, but it’s annoying that he didn’t do a bit more. Still that’s what Urgent Care does — treat the urgent matter. I have an appointment with my regular doc a week from Wednesday. I’ll be off the antibiotics then and have him take a look to make sure nothing else is going on.

Maggie loved all the attention, LOL. Middle Son got her blanket out and let her on the couch early, so it was a danged good day in Maggie’s world.

I’m glad you guys had a good dinner for DIL’s birthday. But I’m so sorry about Muffin. That said, I passionately believe in making the kind and compassionate choice for our animals. I hope I’m as strong as A & A if I’m faced with that choice with Maggie. That is real love — doing what’s best for the animal not us.

Yeah, that is so annoying that the credit union needs to see you in person. I hope you can work it out with them. I know I had to do it in person with my mom but that was two decades ago so that’s not relevant now.

Hope your week is going well and hugs to all on Muffin.
