Weekend Roundup

Happy Labor Day to those celebrating in the U.S.! I hope you’re having a great day off!

Our weekend was good and Maggie’s was amazing because she got to see so many of her favorite people :-) We had a really good time Thursday night with youngest and his wife celebrating her birthday. Maggie was thrilled when they came back over our house for cake. She wore herself out with her silliness.

Saturday evening Turbo and his parents came over. My big news is I scored with some gifts I had for Turbo! Last weekend when I saw him, I listened carefully to his latest interest in a show called Batwheels, and got him some Batwheels toys. I earned all kinds of hugs and kisses for that! His parents went to dinner, and we built a race track that covered most of the house, then went outside and raced monster trucks and finally ended up playing in dirt (of course!). Oh and Maggie and Turbo had a bunch of races. Maggie lost a few of those by default because she saw a lizard or grasshopper :-) But she won other races when she stayed focused.

When Turbo’s parents got home, we tried to hide from them in the backyard, but Maggie showed them where we were hiding — she is NOT good at that game. I mean she didn’t even try, she ran to them full of happy wiggles and led them straight to us. Sigh…

Then we tried to plan a family vacation for next year…we could make a reality show out of our family planning vacations. Although no one has flipped over a table yet! We agree on a location and time, but it’s the smaller things that create the hilarity. So I’m just over here trying to remind someone who lives in my house (not me!) they can’t get their way on every detail. And they can’t control which hotel our adult children choose to stay in. My daughter-in-law at one point said, “We’ll pay for your hotel room if you stay in our choice of hotel.”Β  At which point my son choked and splurted out his coffee in surprise at this new twist and expense. I laughed until I cried. Then, Wizard countered with, “No I’ll pay for your room at our hotel…”

That’s when I started drinking wine. Because daughter-in-law and Wizard? They both like to win and we tease the heck out of them about it. Those two kept upping the stakes in ludicrous ways. Seriously, no one was mad and there’s even a chance we might successfully plan and execute a family vacation. Stay tuned…and maybe bring some popcorn to the next installment of “Will they go on vacation? And if they do, will they survive several days together on an island?”

Sunday we debated refrigerators. It was boring but necessary stuff. We’ll probably buy one today or this week or at least before our current one dies. Maybe!

How was your weekend?

Ahhhh, sweet Maggie! Yay for Turbo Timeβ„’ and I would totally watch a reality show called Abbracadabra Island, Family Vacation. Who gets immunity and who’s the first one voted off the island!?!? Inquiring minds want to know. And yeah, sometimes defaulting to wine is the wisest course of action. 🀣

My weekend wasn’t nearly as entertaining as yours. Siren test successful. Lunch tasty BBQ. Afternoon no nap cuz book release soon so work. OSU Cowboy football a win but lots of anxious moments before the final whistle.

Sunday meant Wallyworld since today is a holiday and who wants to deal with people? **does NOT raise hand** Also, more book work including some grapics for pre-release and release. Book is formatted and once my headache goes away, I’ll start fixing the oopsies the proofreader found. Then I’ll make a second copy but with different back matter for the ‘Zon and will begin the upload process within probably 24 hours. Hey, I’m only a day late and couple dollars short so it’s all good.

    Have a great week, all!

Sounds like you have had a great Labor Day weekend.

Maggie has really had a fun weekend. So many of her favorite people coming to see her. I think those grasshoppers and lizards conspired against Maggie. Turbo must have had a ball racing Maggie 😊.

Good job Grandma! Picking up toys for Turbo of his new favorite show is a true grandma perk πŸ˜‰. Getting dirty outside is a fun thing too.

Your family planning story is great! Having two strong willed people fighting it out must be fun to watch, especially when you know all is good. Let’s see, it’s Labor Day, maybe by Halloween the vacation plans will be settled.πŸ˜„

This is the weekend to buy a refrigerator. They seem to be deeply discounted. Best of luck picking the right one.

My weekend was nothing special. I did speak with my brother twice and though he is still moving slow he’s coming along.

Today I decided it was the last summer holiday so we are having hot dogs, corn on the cobb and veggies I grew on the deck. I made robs last night so I dogs tonight it is 😊.

May you enjoy the rest of Labor Day!

Silver, I shall pitch my reality show to Hollywood as soon as the strike is over :-) It will likely all work out fine, but watching Wizard and Special K together is a crack up. Maggie loves company so much!

Glad the siren test went well and lunch was good, but sorry work ruined your nap. Kind of sounds like you could have used one.

So true on Walmart and holidays. I always dread going there. You were smart to get it done on Sunday!

Yay for being so close to uploading the new book! I’m excited and will buy it as soon as I see it live. I’m sorry for the headache though — I remember those well. IT’s a lot of work with a ton of detail work and stress that often results in headaches. Hope today is better!

    Yay for release week!!!

Viki, Turbo loved racing Maggie, but he doesn’t like losing, LOL. But he was a good sport. If the grasshoppers and lizards did conspire, I feel bad for the ones chosen to distract her. She is obsessed with catching them!

Oh yeah, we’ve been down this vacation planning road before. It’s going to be fine as ultimately, Special K and I will make the arrangements and the guys will live with it :-)

We are still in refrigerator discussions as the sale ends tomorrow. I’m the one holding it up — we’ll end up buying the less expensive one but I’m fighting with myself because I really want the bigger one but know it’s not really worth it.

I hope your hot dogs and fixings were awesome! We just made steak and watched a movie over here.
