Weekend Roundup

It’s windy here! But it’s mostly bad-hair-day windy, not destructive windy, so I don’t mind.

Friday we took Maggie to Home Depot to get a key made. Did you know that there’s a self service machine now to cut keys? It was really cool and very easy. But this is about Maggie. She managed in the ten minutes we were there to collect fan club of young women who worked there. She got treats and tons of pets, and when we were walking out, they were waving to her and calling out, “Bye Maggie.” Because, you know, Wizard and I are invisible, LOLOL!! I’m pretty sure they all fan-girled any friendly dog they saw, but Maggie felt very special.

Saturday I cleaned and did some baking. That evening we went to Turbos. Special K got her red velvet cupcakes, and I froze a few for when my brother-in-law is here for a couple nights at the end of the week. I have no idea if he likes red velvet with cream cheese frosting or not, but it’s a good way to get double duty out of one batch of cupcakes, especially since we’ll be really busy when he’s here. We had fun at Turbo’s house. We played baseball, BBQed hamburgers, then sat around a fire pit and talked. Which led to my throat hurting more than usual on Sunday. But my appointment is in two weeks, and maybe the ENT will have a solution. I can still eat, so that’s good.

Sunday I stopped by to see Biker Witch and her Biker Hubby on my way to Trader Joes. I spent so long at their house talking (more talking! Poor throat!, I ran through Trader Joes really fast, randomly grabbing stuff. I somehow accidently ended up with a bar of dark chocolate in my cart. Oops :-) I didn’t get as many things as I planned, it was too crowded and I was too hungry to make good decisions. Once I got home and had a quick lunch and then I downed healthy helping of dark chocolate. My throat is never too sore for chocolate!  Plus dark chocolate has some anti-inflammatory benefits, so it’s actually medicinal…. I can even site my source — the internet! (Okay there are “real” sources including the NIH, but I eat dark chocolate because I like it, not for health benefits).

How was your weekend?

Happy Almost Halloween!

Maggie deserves all the fangirling! She is the bestest girl for sure! Yay for red velvet cupcakes, Turbo Time™, and family! So happy he’s into baseball. LOL Boo on the throat but hoping the ENT finds the cause/solution. Hi Biker Witch and Biker Hubby! 👋🏼 And dark chocolate cures all sorts of things! Absolutely!

It was cold and either raining or drizzly here all weekend. That’s okay. We garnered about 3.5″ of badly needed rain, the heater works, and we had baseball and college football to watch. My Cowboys won, OU lost. And they play each other in the “Bedlam” series next Saturday–for the last time, as OU is headed to the SEC next year. It should be a crazy game. Stormy has a soccer tournament so we’ll probably be checking in on our sports apps on our phones. LOL

Sunday, I mostly vegged. I tried to do some work but ended up mostly just doing blog posts for this week. I did add about 500 words to a scene so there’s that. Normally cold and rainy is good for writing. Yesterday, I just want to curl up under the covers, though I didn’t actually.

Off to Wallyworld today, despite the freezing temperatures. I want to get out, get it down, and avoid the people. Not feeling up to peopling today, other than the ones I encounter with Jake but like Maggie, he gets the attention, not me. Which all hunky dory fine with me. 🤣 Have a great week, all!

You had a busy fun weekend. I’m sorry that all the fun/talking irritated your throat more than usual. I really hope that when you see the ENT they discover the true cause and heal you.

Maggie has a magnetic personality and just draws people in. I love how she makes friends everywhere she goes. It’s funny because I remember when you first fostered her and she was rather shy. Love is all it took.

It seems like Turbo had tons of fun with grandma and grandpa. You guys must have been worn out by the time you got home.

Spending time with Biker Witch was worth a run through TJ’s. And you bought a healing bar while there – smart :).

I spent the weekend doing normal stuff around the house. I got the pillows washed which is always a pain. Front loading washing machines don’t like to stay balanced when washing King size pillows. I’ve had the best success with 1 pillow at a time and fill the remainder of the washer with clothes. It takes forever but it is what it is.

I made soup yesterday to go with the chilly rainy day. It’s only in the 40’s here the next few days. We’re even supposed to get snow Wednesday morning. I may have to make chili.

Still waiting for my money to show up in my account. I may have to be on the phone tomorrow morning with Fidelity. Sure hope not.

I hope you have a great afternoon.

Silver, my throat is not so bad today, so yay on that. Maggie says thank you and appreciates how much you understand her :-) Chocolate and coffee make the world better.

That’s a lot of rain in a weekend! Wizard was excited about the Cowboys too. Sorry OU lost.

Getting blog posts done frees up more writing time during the week, so that’s a win. Plus 500 words on a scene if progress.

Hope you got Walmart done, especially in that cold. I went today and didn’t have much luck getting what I needed.

Hope Monday is being good to you!

Viki, Maggie was shy and skittish for sure when we got her. She can still be shy at first sometimes, but warms up really fast now.

Turbo was fun :-) It was a low key day at their house, and we really enjoyed that.

Tasks like washing the pillows is super time consuming. I get annoyed with the endlessness of doing things like that. But you got it done!

It’s the perfect time of year for soups and chili! I wish my stomach would tolerate chili, but I’m glad you get to enjoy it!

Yikes, that would drive me insane waiting like that! Hope it comes through by the end of the day.

I hope your week is off to a good start!
