I’m going to do a little different Weekend Roundup, just covering Friday and some of Saturday as I am writing this on Saturday. Then I’ll be traveling and only have my phone. Sorry if this is a little disjointed, I didn’t sleep last night (just overtired from a long but good day), but I’ll sleep tonight!
Friday: It was a marathon day for Wizard’s brother’s memorial service, but it all went well. Since we had the service in a park, we had to set up and break down everything — canopies, tables, and chairs. Plus organizing food (we could not cater at that park). It took a village for sure, but everyone pitched in and it turned out just as Wizard’s brother wanted. One of three remaining brothers led the service, and Wizard spoke. I am so proud of him, it was hard for him to do, but he was able to paint a picture of the brother he loved. He also spoke without notes, which amazed one of his brothers So many others did too, including his daughter who captured her dad as she knew him in words and shared him with us. Aside from the fact that she made me cry, my writer’s brain got all happy and excited at her both real and yet elegant writing skill.
One of our niece flew in from Australia in a turn around trip just to come to her uncle’s service (that’s a long flight!). That is the kind of man he was. His time may have been short, but the memory of his love and the laughter he spread will be long.
One glitch is that Turbo, his mom and dad got hit with a virus. They could not come to the service. Oldest son sounded so upset on the phone. They also aren’t going on the trip this weekend that they arranged, so we feel bad. Now it’s just youngest, his wife and us. But we are going to go and just relax. We canceled the two dinners daughter-in-law had planned because we didn’t want to do those without them there. Instead we’re going to do more of a sight-seeing and recovery trip and food will be an stop and eat as we want it kind of thing.
Friday evening, we got home, picked up food and were all exhausted. But the Wizard and his brother felt the service had honored their brother so it was all worth it.
Saturday, Wizard took his brother to the airport, I did laundry and started organizing for the mini-trip. We leave Sunday. Oh and Maggie is going to her old boarding place, and we hope she does okay. We really need to know before we take a longer trip in the spring. But dang, she is tired as I’m writing this on Saturday. Of course, we walked over two miles this morning, so that makes sense
I won’t be online Monday, but will try to answer comments on Tuesday. I’m hoping to get Wednesday’s post up on schedule. After that, life will slow down to a more normal pace. Hopefully, LOL.
Oh and today is our Anniversary. This little mini trip is our gift to ourselves.
How was your weekend?

Happy Anniversary! Cheers to many, MANY more years together. The memorial service sounds like it was perfect and loving and I’m Wiz’s brother was watching from above smiling hugely. Odd, off-the-wall question…was this the brother with the Mustang? So sorry for Oldest and family. Viruses are bad enough to then to miss all the family time! Ugh. Hope they bounce back quickly and how nice of y’all to postpone the epicurian portion of the trip until they can go. Hope Maggie does well at the boarding.
LG did the Saturday routine on his own. I was under the weather myself. I’d gone to lay down about 4 p.m. on Friday and fell asleep soon after. I woke up Saturday morning feeling like I’d been run over by a cement mixer. LOL As predicted, traffic and parking was a nightmare. He had to walk a long distance, though the kids gave him a ride back to his truck. He went to siren test then came home and stayed on the couch for the OSU/OU game. PISTOLS FIRING! Which is a phrase used when the Cowboys score–goes to Pistol Pete, the mascot, who’s based on a frontier lawman. Anyway, the Pokes beat the Sooners 27-24 so the Bedlam trophy will now reside permanently in the OSU trophy case! And we’ll have perpetual bragging rights. LOL
Sunday, we braved the parking nightmare once more. Getting in and out of the parking lot took as long as the game–coming AND going. Still, the weather was nice and we got to see Stormy play. We grabbed dinner on the way home and pretty much crashed because even though I prefer Standard Time over Daylight Saving Time, there’s still an adjustment period. Luckily, since the ol’ bod is more attuned to CST, it’s shorter–like a few days oppsed to a few months in the spring.
Hope y’all have a great trip and got lots of rest, relaxtion, and restorative time together. Have a great week.

Happy Anniversary!
I hope you had a great time on your trip and got to relax a bit.
Remembering someone so well loved must have been a truly moving service. The niece coming Australia is amazing. Again, proof of a wonderful man.
I’m sorry to hear eldest and family are all sick. I hope they recover quick and you can have a make-up trip in the near future.
Our dinner was nice on Sat. Expensive but very nice.
I ordered a Christmas tree from Costco. It will be here this Saturday. Harrison and clan are coming up over Thanksgiving so the tree will be up when he gets here. I’m okay with it this year since we won’t be seeing them on Christmas.
Today the gutters were done and the house washed.
Just found out that OH decided the our county needed to pay higher property taxes. Every one of us has a 29% increase. We had no say.
Have fun!

Silver, yes, Mike was the brother with the Mustang. It wasn’t that off the wall of a question, but I’m still impressed you remembered. That Mustang was so special to Mike.
I’m so sorry you were unwell, and had to miss Saturday. But glad you slept and continued to rest until you felt better. I feel for LG, but of course the kids helped out. Also, LG rocks for going and managing the best he can. So many people give up. Wizard and LG are amazing.
Yay for your team!!!
Ugh on the parking nightmare. I’ve been caught in those at the kid’s sports things, and it’s beyond aggravating. But glad you got to see Stormy play.
We did, and I hope your week is going well!

Viki, thanks. Yeah oldest and family getting sick was really a bummer, mostly for the service. Oldest was most upset about that when I talked to him. However he was able to see his uncle a couple times in the last weeks so that’s a blessing.
You deserve and expensive dinner, and I hope you had a nice time celebrating your anniversary!
You are smart to order the tree now! I’m sure Harrison will love it when they come for T-Day. I hope the tree is exactly what you want when it arrives. I need a new one but I don’t think we’re doing holiday events at my house so I’ll go with the one I have
Good to have the gutters done.
WHAT?? That’s crazy on state taxes and I’d be ticked off in a big way. I hope a lot of people protest!
