Happy Release Day to Regan Hastings ! The second book in her Awakening Series,  VISIONS OF SKYFIRE is out today! Full disclosure: Regan is the pen name of a good friend of mine, Maureen Child. I still remember the day Maureen told me about her new idea–a world of witches awakening and the society that feared them.

I got chills. I loved it! And I continued to love it as she wrote the first book, VISIONS OF MAGIC. If you haven’t read the first book, go read the excerpt here. And you can read the excerpt to the second book, VISIONS OF SKYFIRE,  here.

Another upcoming read I’m excited about is Laura Wright‘s (another friend)  ETERNAL CAPTIVE,  but that’s not out until February 2012, darn it!

Okay, now tell me, what upcoming book are you excited about?

I’m trying to write this blog when I’m drained of all Brain Cells. But the good news–I finished the proposal and sent it to my agent yesterday. I’m hoping she has time to read it this week and give me her feedback.

One of the many things I can count on with my agent is that she is always honest. Always. I know she means what she says.  I love that, even when I don’t love hearing what she has to say.

I really want to tell you all about this idea! But I know I must be careful, dang it. It’s killing me!You guys are my witches, and I think I should be able to share everything!

Let’s change the subject before I do say something I shouldn’t.

I finished reading STORM’S HEART by Thea Harrison. I didn’t love it anywhere near as much as I loved DRAGON BOUND.  But then, DRAGON BOUND is a hard book to follow up!

I’ve just started FIRST GRAVE ON THE RIGHT by Darynda Jones. I’m only a couple chapters in, but so far, it’s very entertaining!

So what are you reading?

I read just over one book while on vacation, mostly on the plane. Otherwise, we were too busy or someone (Wizard!) chats when I try to read. But since I last mentioned it, I think I’ve read two Lori Foster books:

WHEN YOU DARE, book one in her Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor Series. This book I liked a lot! I was drawn in and enjoyed the interplay between the hero and heroine.

TRACE OF FEVER, book two in the same series.  This one was okay, but I didn’t get as drawn in. I had trouble believing the heroine’s background and motivation.

But I think the third book, SAVOR THE DANGER, looks interesting. Haven’t read it yet, but I probably will.

I’ve just started reading Nalini Singh’s ARCHANGEL’S CONSORT.  I’m hoping to get a little quiet reading time to get further into the book!

Wow, getting dragged into a new story and new world is exhausting! Plus I have this tiny piece of news about the Wing Slayer Series, but I don’t have enough info to share it yet.

So moving on…

I’ve just started Michelle Rowen’s NIGHTSHADE.  I’m not too far into it yet, but I’m enjoying it.  I’m trying to read new-to-me authors.

So that’s what I’m doing, how about you?

If I get a chance to read (and my stupid sinus headache lets me), I’m going to start Nalini Singh’s KISS OF SNOW.

What about you?

I just finished SHADOW KISS, the third book in Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy Series.  The needing hooked my and now I’m gonna have to buy the fourth one, BLOOD PROMISE! Before that, I read BLOOD LAW by Karen Tabke, and THE RELUCTANT NUDE by Meg Maguire. Both those books were unusal, and intriguing in very different ways.

I think next, I may read MY KILLER, MY LOVE by Mona Karel. But I’m also really anxious to read BLOOD PROMISE–oh how to choose!

So what are you reading?

I’ve been reading more! I just finished Patricia Briggs first book in her Feral series, DESIRE UNTAMED. I enjoyed it. It’s not a 5 star read for me, but I know people love, love, love the books and I see why!

Right now, I’m reading Silver James (**waves madly at Silver!**) PROMISES PROMISES.  I just shy of half way through and totally loving it! I’m even a little surprised because novella length books are a hard sell for me. I just don’t always love them, but his book is hitting all the right buttons to draw me in and have me rooting, and rooting hard, for the heroine Kelly.  I’ll let you all know what I think when I’m finished!

So far, I haven’t been called in for jury duty. I’ve had all week fairly free, but Friday I have a hair appt I don’t want to miss. I’m going to be peeved if I get called in on Friday! Just warning you all so you can take cover
